So....it's as confirmed as any of these things ever are, until the cameras roll. Check out the photos--they're wearing remarkably similar eyewear, even if Elton's lack antennae. I've often thought Lady Gaga has stolen Elton's wacky 70s outfits schtick...
This year's Grammy Awards will kick off with a bang as two musical icons team up for very first time.
RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the rumors are true: Elton John and Lady Gaga will sing together on stage for the opening musical number at Sunday's Grammys in Los Angeles.
A source tells RadarOnline.com that Elton and the Paparazzi singer rehearsed Saturday afternoon at Center Staging studio near the Burbank airport, adding that the two sounded "incredible".
Both singers are known for their outlandish styles, but Elton was dressed in all black and wearing sunglasses while the usually masked Lady Gaga was dressed casually and in a simple coat.
Elton's people confirmed that the dynamic duo will be the opening act.
This is not the first time John has teamed up with a singing sensation of a younger generation.
In 2001, he famously performed with rapper Eminem for a Grammys moment to remember, singing “Stan”.
Lady Gaga is nominated for five Grammys, including Album of the Year (The Fame Monster), Song of the Year (Poker Face), and Record of the Year (Poker Face).
The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m.

I'm recording the Grammys and was about to start to watch it but now I think I'll wait or just skip it. All this hype over another version of "Your Song"?! If they were going to do an EJ song that would have been the last one I would have expected them to do. "I Am Your Robot" would have been a cool choice and one no one ever would have expected.

Oh, go ahead and watch it, it's over in about 7 minutes. ;-)

I thought it was a lot of fun. A perfect matching: two flamboyant singer/songwriters dressed up and playing dueling pianos.
It was anything but another version of Your Song. I thought it was great. They both sounded great, and despite Lady Gaga's dominance as an over the top visual performer, the duet, done on a fused 'dual piano' was somewhat understated for her. In contrasted the opening Poker Face dance theatrics nicely, and it was nice to see two musicians opening the show. Elton's voice was strong, and his 'ashes look' was better than the pink suit he wore at the 2001 Grammys with Eminem.

I did watch it last night and it was a lot different and a lot better than I was expecting. I agree that his voice was strong and what they did worked. I still would have preferred a different song and I'd love to know who selected it. Maybe it was her. Also, I've had enough of "Poker Face" for a long time. I think I've heard a hundred different versions of that song about a million times since it's been released!

Sans the make-up, their voices sounded great together. *******************
What did the make-up have to do with their voices?
Does anyone know who approached who to do this collaboration? I'm thinking it might have been her as she seemed pretty excited at the end and Elton's obviously had some influence on her.
